Planning rules allowed only one storey above the dune, so half the house sits below it. Deep window openings bring light down into the lower rooms and keep the summer sun off the glass.

Lime plaster walls, a polished concrete floor and oak joinery. Nothing is painted, so the house can age without upkeep.
